Over The Moon... And The Rainbow

The last month has been nothing short of exciting and amazing, and it's all thanks to you. If you've looked at the JIMMY site, followed us on social, liked a post, shared an image, bought a product, talked about JIMMY to a friend, shared your thoughts on our fits/fabrics - literally any kind of gesture - you've proven to me and anyone else attached to the brand that our work is worth it. In short, we want to express our sincerest gratitude. We are thrilled to have you as part of the JIMMY community and are excited to continue growing and evolving with your ongoing feedback and support. Thank you.

Part of building and growing a brand is understanding that nothing is ever going to be perfect. You can strive for perfection, sure, but perfect can be boring. Also, what even is 'perfect?' There is so much to be learned and gained when you let go of the idea of perfect and do your best. And, I think you are your best and do your best when you have a strong, supportive, loving network. You can do a lot on your own, but there is something beautiful about existing and creating within a community. Community is one of our core brand values and JIMMY can only evolve with a sense of community.

The JIMMY journey to this point hasn't been perfect, but nonetheless I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride. It's almost fitting that the second journal entry since we've launched falls on the last weekend of June, traditionally known as Pride month, with the last weekend ending a month-long celebration of love. Being an LGBTQ+ owned business is amazing. I love what the LGBTQ+ community represents, and I love being a part of it. And, while I'm always down to celebrate and show my pride, now more than ever it is crucial that we support one another and stand together in unity. Our differences are what make us unique, and we should celebrate them rather than fear them - or allow others to try and paint our pride as something "imperfect." The community is facing a lot of challenges: anti-LGBTQ+ laws and legislations are being passed, books are being banned, drag artists are being silenced, life-saving medical care for trans folx is being restricted or removed, and so much more. The LGBTQ+ community has always faced challenges, and there are so many humans that have fought - and continue to fight - for our right to exist. We owe a lot to them, and we need to support them. I've been associated with Stonewall Community Foundation for a few years and I'll never cease to be amazed by their selfless, incredible work. If you have the time (or funds!), give them a look and some love. They are literally on the ground fighting not just for LGBTQ+ rights, but rights that affect all of us.  We are in this world together, and together we can create a world where diversity is celebrated, and love wins.

I recently rediscovered the saying "life is a journey, not a destination." I've heard it before, but in the development of JIMMY, specifically the last year, it's resonating more and more. We lose time and opportunities trying to get to some sort of finish line. These days I'm working to live and breathe the idea that life is less about the race and more about the pace. If I can slow down, take a look around, I can see that each person, each experience can build on this journey and make something beautiful. As a small business working to provide unique and high-quality products that stand out, we hope we can add some beauty and comfort to your journey. Thank you, again, for being with us - and HAPPY PRIDE!

All love,

Jimmy
